The Recycle & Redeem feature of the STEP UP Sustainability app is designed to encourage responsible recycling behaviors by offering tangible rewards in the form of CO2 points. These points serve as an indicator of the amount of CO2 emissions reduced through proper recycling practices. Users can earn CO2 points through a straightforward three-step process:

• Transport appropriately cleaned recyclables to the nearest designated blue recycling bin or a recycling chute equipped with the ALBA W&H Step Up Recycling QR Code.
• Scan the QR code with the STEP UP Sustainability App to log the activity.
• Capture a clear photograph of the cleaned recyclables and then empty your bin or bag.

Once recorded, the CO2 points are automatically credited to the user’s STEP UP account. These points can then be exchanged for Grab points, vouchers, or discounts on eco-friendly products from a network of sustainable partners. Additionally, users have the option to donate their points to friends or educational institutions.

The app also provides features for monitoring personal recycling habits. Users can track their accumulated CO2 points, analyze their contribution to reducing carbon footprint, and compare their performance with that of other app users.

The Trash-ure Map and Trash-ure Chests feature allows users to locate nearby recycling bins, collection events, and Cash-for-trash programs via an interactive map. Saving preferred locations facilitates easier access during future recycling activities.

The program offers information on local recycling events and collection drives, including opportunities to participate in Cash-for-trash initiatives. These events enable users to earn additional CO2 points and monetary rewards by submitting clean recyclables.

For larger waste items, an Order & Pickup service is available for landed property owners. Future updates will include additional waste categories to enhance this service.

The app also disseminates Sustainable Tips & News, providing guidance on effective recycling techniques and inspiring sustainable living practices through educational content.

The Collection Scheduler feature allows users to enter their postal code to determine upcoming dates for recyclables, garden waste, and bulky waste collection services.

Educational institutions can register as organizations within the platform to engage exclusively in targeted recycling activities and interschool competitions, with the opportunity to earn recognition and awards for their recycling efforts.
